What is Cerenx Sodium Citicoline?
Cerenx® (sodium citicoline) is not a drug or a dietary supplement. Cerenx® is a medical food—a dietary substance recognized by clinicians to provide direct benefit to specific populations whose needs cannot be met by diet alone. As a medical food, Cerenx® is intended for use under the supervision of a qualified healthcare practitioner.
Cerenx® (sodium citicoline) is indicated for the specific requirements of patients under treatment for Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI) including early cognitive decline and memory loss, and for cerebrovascular events including Transient Ischemic Attack (TIA) and Stroke.
The active ingredient in Cerenx® capsules is called citicoline. Citicoline is the generic term for oral preparations of CDP-Choline or cytidine 5’-diphosphocholine, a biological chemical naturally present within the human body. CDP-choline is an essential element in the development and maintenance of several important compounds (phospholipids) that form cellular membranes within the brain.
The specific form of citicoline found in Cerenx®—sodium citicoline—is the precise form used in the majority of published clinical research. This form of citicoline has been demonstrated safe and effective in thousands of subjects participating in dozens of controlled studies over the past 30 years.*

Is Cerenx Sodium Citicoline right for me?
Do you find yourself forgetting things that were once easy to recall, like names or phone numbers? Do you misplace your keys or remotes with greater frequency? Do you get stuck mid-sentence, struggling to find the right words? If so, Cerenx® may be right for you.
Have you experienced a stroke, silent stroke, TIA (transient ischemic attack) or another injury that reduced oxygen supply to the brain? If so, you should talk to your doctor immediately about incorporating Cerenx® into your care regimen.
As we age, our ability to generate CDP-choline declines, leaving us vulnerable to damage within the delicate cellular membranes of brain cells. Research has shown that those suffering from early cognitive decline and memory loss have less circulating CDP-choline compared to healthy individuals.
Likewise, people who have experienced an event leading to a reduction of blood supply and oxygen to the brain—such as stroke, silent stroke or traumatic brain injury—have been shown to be deficient in CDP-choline.
Individuals shown to be deficient in available CDP-choline display a corresponding reduction in neuroplasticity (the ability of the brain to form and adapt to changes in neurochemical signals).
Cerenx® protects the brain’s neural networks by enhancing the brain’s natural neural pathways.
Reductions in blood flow and oxygen supply are associated with both the cause and the result of stroke and related events. This deficiency leads to the degeneration and reduced production of vial components within the brain’s cell membranes, ultimately resulting in damage to healthy brain cells.
Cerenx® provides foundational nourishment for phospholipid synthesis and the maintenance of healthy cellular membranes within the brain.
